General Directions for use:
Paint removal
requires a chemical balance and a project will require paint stripper in
equal measure to the amount of paint. The more coats of paint present,
the more paint remover required. As an example, the average automobile
with two coats of paint, is usually completely stripped with 2 gallons of
Spra' Strip.
Capt. Lee's
Spra' Strip is a clear liquid and should be poured from the can into the
chemical resistant bottle which is included. Do not dilute with
water. It's best to work in temperatures between 50° and 95°. Try to
avoid days which are very humid. High humidity/water may stop or
neutralize the stripper. Work in a shaded area and out of direct sunlight
which can dry and waste product. Remove all plastic lenses and urethane
bumpers, if your project is a vehicle. Cardboard may be useful to catch
drips or loosened finish.

|
|
Try to work in 2' sections spraying onto the surface in a
generous coating, feeding the finish. Apply Spra'
Strip well enough to cover and wet the surface, but not so
much that the remover runs or drips from the surface.
Spray in a left to right, back and forth motion.
Spra'
Strip will gel slightly and cling to horizontal or vertical surfaces.
After the paint has been balanced by remover, allow stripper 5 to 8
minutes to penetrate the layers of paint. Return to the surface using
a plastic scraper or bondo spreader and check to see if penetration is
complete. If not, apply a second coat.
There is
no need to remove the first coat, just apply a second coat to achieve
the chemical balance between paint and stripper. The need for a
second coat usually indicates the presence of more than 2 or 3 coats
of paint. A second coat of Spra' Strip should remove 3-6 coats of
paint. Allow remover to sit a few minutes, test again with the
plastic scraper or bondo spreader. Depending upon your project,
scrape a small spot to determine if penetration has reached the
primer, metal, wood or fiberglass surface.

Please
note:
GM vehicles will scrape down to electrostatically applied primer. In
the final step, we recommend spraying a light coat of Spra' Strip and
using steel wool, (without soap) to remove this particular primer.
When the
paint or (loosened finish) has released or lifted from the surface,
scrape off with a plastic scraper and dispose of in a metal container.
The final
step consists of spraying a light coat of stripper on the surface.
Use a medium grit scuff pad or medium grit steel wool pad, (without
soap) that is wet with water (or alcohol) and wash the surface. (We
recommend only using a medium grit scuff pad on fiberglass.) This step
will remove any primer and will neutralize the stripper. Do not
wash with soap because it will leave a film. After washing, wipe
surface completely clean with a cloth or paper towel.

General
guidelines for use:
Spra'
Strip does not contain acid, but it can irritate and dry the skin and
so we recommend wearing rubber gloves when working with this product.
No medical treatment is required unless the remover is consumed or
comes in contact with the eyes.
Always
work in a well ventilated area where the temperature is above 50
degrees F. and below 95 degrees F. Never work in direct sunlight
because the heat from the sun will dry the remover too quickly which
will waste product.
Never
work in the wind because the remover may be carried to surfaces that
you do not wish to strip. Make certain that the surface on which you
are working is cool, not hot. A garage with the door or window open
is a prime location in which to work on a stripping project. Do not
scrape wet paint into a bucket. The paint will be toxic. Allow paint
to dry, spread onto cardboard and it will be environmentally safe for
disposal.
When
finished working for the day, return any remaining Spra' Strip to the
can. Wash the empty spray bottle with denatured alcohol, rubbing
alcohol, or hot water. Replace the sprayer head and spray any
remaining stripper onto a safe surface. This will extend the life of
the chemical resistant bottle.
Often, cans
are kept in areas that are subject to dampness and over time cans may
deteriorate. Unused Spra' Strip can be transferred to a glass container
which should be clearly marked with its contents. This will prevent any
moisture or dampness causing an environmental stress on the integrity of
the metal container.
